A still life in the Dutch Renaissance style but with 20th century items, Marina combines an antique egg scale, eggs and a red measuring tape in curious still life evocative of the 18th Century Dutch Masters. A jewel of a painting. The painting is signed in red on the lower right. The frame is a heavily carved wooden frame with red undertones. The painting was created on wooden panel in the old master style. The painting is 11" tall by 14" wide. Overall, the framed work is 13.75" tall by 16.75" wide and 1.5" deep.
Marina Movshina is an American artist known for landscape painting, and for her illustrations of children’s books, as well as her still lifes. Her paintings have been selected for the exhibition of distinguished alumni at Carnegie-Mellon’s Centennial Celebration of its College of Fine Art, the Logan Center at the University of Chicago and the Harlin Museum in West Plains, MO. An elected artist member of the American Artists’ Professional League, she is admired for her skill as a painter and draftsman in the handling of space, depiction of light, and expert use of color. She received a B.F.A. from Carnegie-Mellon University and studied at the Art Students’ League, New York, NY. less
