After more than two decades since publishing its last edition, The River Oaks Garden Club has released the fifth edition of A Garden Book for Houston and the Texas Gulf Coast, a favorite among gardeners in Houston and the surrounding area since it was first published in 1929. The latest edition of the book, written and edited by Lynn Herbert has been expanded to 672 pages and includes updated information on the use of native Texas plants and organic gardening, as well as sections on azaleas and roses that are favorites of years past. Among the hundreds of new color photographs contained within, vignettes of several gardens designed by Curtis & Windham Architects are featured, including the gardens at the Knollwood, South Boulevard, Sleepy Hollow, and Del Monte Residences. The book is available locally at Brazos Bookstore and River Oaks Bookstore and from booksellers online.
