The restoration work was impeccable. We have discovered no apparent imperfections. NOTE: This is a vintage item. As with all vintage items, there may be some defects or signs of wear commensurate with the age and use of the item. It is erroneous to assume that any vintage piece is without any imperfections. We do our best to identify and disclose all distinct flaws. However, it is always inappropriate and misleading to market any vintage item as having no imperfections, and we would not construe that any of our vintage items are without imperfections. less

It probably was produced in the 2nd Empire period of Emperor Louis Napoleon, known as Napoleon III. The chair was not nearly so grand when we found it, but it has been lovingly restored to the grandeur it deserves. Unlike most chairs of this period that are replete with ormolu or gilt embellishments, this chair relies solely on the impeccable craftsmanship of a master wood carver for its embellishment. The chair is ornately carved with a fruit motif at the crest and a reeded apron. It has beautiful winged paw feet sitting on the original casters. Dating from the early to mid-1800s, the dark mahogany has a lovely patina that almost resembles a reddish ebony. The newly re-upholstered back and seat give a regal appearance to the chair. (Sadly, the original seat and stuffing could not be saved.) This chair is a rare find. It has been brought back to a splendid state of condition. We have not found anything like it outside of France, although these chairs are not uncommon in the antique market in France. It is absolutely breathtaking, and we are confident that you will never find another like it in this country. (The seat measures 19 inches from the floor; the crest is 39 1/2 inches high. The chair is 24 inches wide and 21 inches deep.) less
