We're scouring the countryside -- often D.C., Virginia, and the Carolinas -- sometimes Oslo, Malmö, Göteborg, or København -- with a Scandinavian eye and heart. We're looking for classic lines, shapes, and functionality -- and, most especially, 'glæde'. There's got to be joy in the design. We like timeless design, and the period is of no consequence if the design is fun and authentic -- and if the functionality strikes our fancy. We love norsk rosemaling and bondeblå, Niels Otto Møller, or Gustavian grays; and we're equally exuberant about American primitive, Empire gravitas, high Victorian frippery, and heavy Gothic revival. We restore, repair, re-invent, or re-imagine. And you can bet your last krone: If we wouldn't have it in our home, we won't list it on Chairish -- because if it doesn't sell, guess where it goes!
