Alexis Price is a prolific, self-taught artist who developed her craft by using herself as a figural study. Each painting is essentially a self portait. Price uses big pop art color to create wildly surrealistic, anthropomorphic oil and acrylic paintings on canvas. While her work may nod to all the isms, Price has created a genre that is entirely her own. This early piece, featuring an albino raven, is both elegant and complex; exploring dueling concepts of femininity: what it’s like to be a woman vs. how we are seen.

This piece was part of a break out gallery show in Raleigh, NC, 2015. I believe this is one of her best, early works. Alexis Price is an artist on the rise. less
