The chair has been newly re-upholstered by our master upholsterer; the beautifully carved wood apron on the front and the nicely proportioned legs have been resurfaced with new stain and varnish. It is in top condition. However, this is an antique. Vintage and antique items will inevitably have some signs of wear or age, even if infinitesimally minute. Consequently, it is not appropriate to market any antique or vintage items as having no imperfections. less

The back is gracefully framed … more This beautifully proportioned 1920s rolled arm chair came from a fine estate in southern Virginia. The back is gracefully framed by slightly winged sides, so we chose to upholster the center with this incredible geisha fabric imported from Japan. (The chair would be more aptly labeled "japonaiserie" rather than "chinoiserie".) The remainder of the chair is done with an elegant red upholstery fabric embroidered with a small gold dot in the center of a subtle diamond patter -- a perfect complement to the red and gold in the Japanese fabric. The chair was manufactured back when furniture was still constructed to last for the ages. It is sturdy, strong, and comfortable. We ordered a new cushion when we had the chair re-upholstered. The legs and apron are beautifully carved as you should be able to see in the photos. The wood appears to be mahogany or walnut. This is truly a stunning and eye-catching chair. It measures 35 inches high at the crest, and the seat is 18 inches high. It is 35 inches wide and 35 inches deep. less
