Wood & Sons Pottery of Burslem was founded in 1865, and they produced quality stoneware for about 80 years; ultimately failing during the post war recession. Burslem is one of the six towns that along with Hanley, Tunstall, Fenton, Longton and Stoke-upon-Trent form part of the city of Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire, England. This toby jug was produced during the 1920s. It is hand-painted and in virtually perfect condition, with no defects or repairs observed under the black light.
