About Judy Miller:
In 1970, while working toward a degree at UC Berkeley, I got my first apartment. Needing dishes, yet knowing nothing about ceramics, I rolled out clay and drew scenes from my life. What began as necessity became an enormously gratifying, full time career from 1972 through 2002, selling nationwide and in Canada. My plates have an emotional narrative content that people find engaging. They capture a moment in time that invites the viewer to complete the story from their own imagination or life experience. I am often contacted by past customers who either would like new pieces made or who just want to let me know how important my work has been to their lives.
“Only put off until tomorrow what you are willing to die left undone” (Pablo Picasso)… In 2006 I began Act II of my artistic life. I was eager to dig deeper and discover something new within me. Celebrating the world through the luminous palette of pastels is my great challenge and great pleasure. I love the immediacy of working with the pastel stick, holding it in my hand, sensing how different each stick feels as it glides across the texture of the paper, layering rich color. As I paint, whether it be en plein air or in the studio, I experience building or sculpting the object I am working on, as if it were three dimensions on a two dimensional picture plane.
Capturing the essence of incredible places I have been, beautiful vistas that have moved me, the lovely form of the human body, is what I find compelling and exhilarating.
I am a native Californian, born in Los Angeles in 1950, living in Santa Cruz on the Central California Coast. I attended UCLA and UC Berkeley and received a BA in 1971.

Orders where Free Local Pickup or Seller Managed Local Delivery were selected:
- Upon inspection, If you decide not to move forward with the purchase, you or your agent must refuse the item at the time of pickup/delivery from the seller
- Once you have taken possession of the item, all sales are final
- International, cross-border returns may require different processes depending on the countries between which the item is shipping to/from, and the buyer is responsible and duties (if applicable, on cross-border orders).
- On approved returns, the buyer is responsible for the full cost of return packing and shipping.
Cancellations
- Prior to shipping or local pickup, buyers may cancel an order for any reason, with the exception of some Made-to-Order items, where supplies have been purchased or work begun on the item.
