These crystal glasses were produced by Denmark's pre-eminent glassmakers and came to be known as the “Princess” series. They were wildly popular for their classic mic-century modern shape and for the remarkable trapped bubble of air inside the stem, known as the teardrop. Although this design has often been imitated – with many knock-offs – no glassmaker has managed to get the teardrop into the stem in the exact way that the Holmegaard glassblowers have done. This handmade and finely blown glass features elongated bowls seated upon conical stems. This teardrop series continues to be popular today, both in Denmark, where mid-century simplicity is king, and around the world. Extra pieces can occasionally be found on Chairish and on other sites that sell replacements. The small wine glasses measure 5.5 inches tall. The bowls are 2.5 inches in diameter. This set of two glasses is in superb condition with no chips, cracks, or cloudiness. Please note: Because these glasses are handcrafted and blown, there are minute differences in each glass, particularly the teardrop. (These glasses came in a set of 9. However, because the seven other glasses appear to be ever so minutely different in color, we have posted those seven glasses on Chaiirish in a separate listing. Please see the last photo here which shows the two slightly different colors. The difference is only visible in very brightly lit conditions against a white background. However, we have opted to sell these two glasses separately. If you could use a set of nine, we would encourage you to inspect both listings: the set of seven and this set of two.) less
