This mirror came from an upscale estate in southern Virginia. … more The year of the dragon deserves a dragon-themed chinoiserie mirror. This mirror came from an upscale estate in southern Virginia. It was used as a fireplace mirror when we found it, but it would be equally perfect as a wall mirror. It is solid wood -- we believe mahogany. It is embellished with carved wood representations of a phoenix standing in front of a pagoda silhouette and flanked by two dragons. We believe that the mirror dates from the 1970s. Because the mirror is solid wood rather than fragile gesso or plaster, it appears to be in excellent condition with no discernable chips, cracks, flaws, or imperfections. Please note that the solid wood frame makes the mirror relatively heavy at a bit over 20 pounds. The mirror measures 57 inches tall at the crest (the top of the pagoda); it is 29 inches wide and 3 inches deep. Please take a good look at the photos as the giltwood seems to appear different shades of gold under differing lighting conditions. less
