This Herman Miller Summer Picnic very rare vintage 1980 Steven Frykholm " Lemonade " silkscreen print custom framed large Pop Art poster is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The Modernist poster print is published by Herman Miller Inc. Printed in The United States in 1980 by Continental Identification Products Inc. in an unnumbered limited edition on the occasion of the Herman Miller annual company picnic on July 26, 1980. It features an artwork image created by Steven Frykholm titled " Lemonade ".
This is a rare opportunity for true Modernism Design lovers and Pop Art fans and collectors all, as this coveted image large silkscreen print Pop Art poster is long out of print and very scarce to find.
In 1970, Herman Miller hired its first in-house graphic designer, a bright-eyed Cranbrook graduate named Steven Frykholm. Among his initial assignments was the task of designing a poster to promote the company's annual summer picnic. The resulting poster would spark an ambitious series of strikingly vibrant posters animating all the joys of the summer season.
The picnic posters are so highly regarded as exceptional examples of graphic design and Pop Art that they have since made it into many prestigious museum collections including The Museum of Modern Art New York, The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and The Smithsonian's Cooper Hewitt Design Museum, and firmly landed him on the short list of Herman Miller's illustrious design alumni. Frykholm's impressive tenure at the company nearly 50 years stands as a testament to his remarkable creativity and singular design aesthetic.
The rare out of print framed Modernist large format Pop Art poster measures 26 1/4" W X 40 3/4" H X 1 1/4" D. The poster is screen printed with lacquer ink in a gloss lacquer finish.
It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern lemon yellow gloss finish enamel wood frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.
It is in excellent " like new " condition. The poster print is in excellent " like new " clean vintage condition consistent with age, light signs of handling, and light minor surface wear.
