George Nelson

From 1945 to 1972, George Nelson was the Director of Design at Herman Miller. During his reign many beautiful pieces of furniture were made at Herman Miller. Our absolute favorites are the Marshmallow sofa and the Coconut Lounge chair.

Marshmallow sofa - Contrary to popular belief, the Marshmallow sofa was not designed by George Nelson. It was in fact designed by Irving Harper who made the design keeping bulk manufacturing in mind. Even if it wasn’t designed by George Nelson, the Marshmallow sofa, which is an icon of Herman Miller furniture, was designed during George Nelson’s reign. We’d give him top marks for that.

Coconut Lounge chair - Designed after a chunk of the coconut shell, this is a timeless design. We can picture this gorgeous Herman Miller chair in a lounge, or a deck or even in an office. Buying used Herman Miller chairs is a safe bet, thanks to the company’s dedication toward producing sturdy furniture.

Charles and Ray Eames

Much like Michelle and Barack Obama, Charles and Ray Eames need no introduction. This couple revolutionized the perception of furniture and while we can wax eloquent about their work, there is one piece of Herman Miller furniture that we absolutely adore - Eames Herman Miller walnut stool. A gorgeous accent piece, you’d want many of their beauties. The hourglass figure and its gorgeous wooden tones, make this walnut stool a must-buy. Grab a couple of these Herman Miller stools for the living room (additional seating, thank you very much) or for the porch. The fact that these stools can be flipped over and used as well just makes them unbelievably cool in our book. If you are looking for classic designs that can give any space a bit of a lift, look no further. These Herman Miller stools are bomb. Love the Eames and Herman Miller collab? Isamu Noguchi

A master of design and balance, Isamu Noguchi’s furniture designs are absolutely delicious. Take for example, the spectacularly designed Noguchi table. This gorgeous wooden table with a glass top will look at home anywhere you place it. The wooden ‘legs’ are striking will always draw the eye. We love a good conversation starter. The glass top is easy to maintain and makes the table universally appealing. Whether your style is boho chic or Danish modern, this beautiful table will fit right in.
