This large Giovanni DeSimone tile wall panel in a Circus Carnevale theme is extremely rare. I have never come across a vintage DeSimone panel of this size and scale, made when Giovanni DeSimone was still alive and designing for Vietri.
Approximately 40-45 years old. Puchased from Vietri in early 1980. Signature on front and back. On the back, bottom right, you can see a handprint in the clay and also what looks to be the initials J.R.
The vibrant Carnevale scene depicts an enthusiastic audience of flag-waving onlookers. All eyes are on the performers inside the ring....an elephant and rider, trained seal, trapeze artist, pierrot on bikes, musicians...details upon details.
This one of a kind Giovanni De Simone piece will add a bold pop of color and Italian cubist style to any home. This panel is the perfect size for a stove/kitchen backsplash or to be hung as a whimsical and FUN work of art! less
