This rare find … more Rare antique Thun (TK) stackable teapot with diffuser from c. 1900 in a traditional blue onion pattern.
This rare find is a must for blue onion and porcelain collectors.
A perfect all-in-one pot, the top part of this teapot is a diffuser for loose leaf tea, creating the perfect cup in the bottom portion of the pot. Loose tea is placed in the mid-section strainer, and hot water is poured through the tea leaves, steeping into the pot. To serve, the strainer is removed and the lid can be placed on the pot.
Thun 1794 is the largest producer of Czech porcelain, manufacturing domestic and hotel porcelain and limited series of decorative hard-paste porcelain. Count Franz Joseph Thun and J. N. Weber founded Thun in 1794, making it the second oldest factory in Bohemia. Thun porcelains are used for official receptions by the President of the Czech Republic in Prague's Castle, at the Kremlin in Moscow and many other embassies throughout the world.
The Blue Onion design is a favorite design of Thun. The Thun logo on the bottom is the old pre-Czech Republic logo and dates the piece to the turn of the century.
