This remarkable George III secretary in burled walnut from the late 18th century is a true work of art.
Standing at 96.25” tall, this secretary will make a statement in any living room, study, library or bedroom. With beautiful carpentry and exquisite details, this timeless masterpiece exudes elegance, sophistication and functionality.
The design of the secretary harmonizes classical elements with practicality. The rich, warm hues of the burled walnut and green leather create a luxurious workspace for correspondence, record-keeping or creative pursuits.
The top portion of this piece features an arched pediment and adjustable bookshelves enclosed by a pair of carved and paneled doors. The secretary opens to expose a magnificent interior with a green leather top. Beautiful fitted drawers and a removable center door reveal secret drawers on the reverse. This feature is perfect for keeping valuables.
Three long drawers and three short drawers supported by ogee bracket feet make up the bottom half of the secretary.
Sourced from a beautiful New Canaan estate, the secretary comes with an original letter from the owner, stating the piece was brought to the US from Guernsey over 20 years ago. It captures the essence of a bygone era, exuding the elegance and refinement of the Georgian period, while providing a sophisticated workspace to meet modern needs.
