We ourselves buy and use preowned personal and housware items and have begun to buy interior design items here on Chairish with funds from sales as opposed to paying full retail any longer. We understand the potential cons involved in buying vintage antique items. We do our absolute best to avoid complicatons by only offering the best quality top condition items while also asking potential buyers to keep a positive yet realistic expectation of well kept flawless to great condition vintage, antiques wares. All item details provided by current or previous owners, family members and so on. Many items are inherited or heirloom items so descriptions, circa and acquisition dates may be second to third generation oral history recounted as acurrately as memory allows. While we do our best to check facts and records available to us, please be advised there is always the chance of unintentional human error so oral history, dates and provenance may not be exact nor provable. We advise items be purchased for their aesthetic beauty and functional purpose rather than their exact circa eras and historical classifications as we are not historians nor a museum resale company. Please be advised many extremely high end designers and makers offer "Tear Sheet" at the time of order of their items, expecially customized, upgraded and specialty items, as oppossed to labels being afixed by factories making high volume stock inventory items for that brand. The people who know what that item is "know" and the people who don't, don't, which is the way many designers and their wealthy clients who can afford such items prefer it. Such exclusive familiarity cuts down on manufacturing infringement fakes and nosey neighbor style copycats lols Facts on customized items are often given verbally and through fact checking with that designers "Tear Sheets" on finishes, materials and dimensions, as well as through checking auction house's such as Sotheby's, Christie's and so on, record of previous sales of the same type of item by that designer or maker. Many auction house records will indicate "unmarked" on customized and high end specialty designer items. Furthermore, just because something has a label doesn't necessarily mean something is genuine. The quality, construction and materials of an item are what make it genuine and worthy of being designer quality. Thank you.
