My approach to design can be traced back to the myriad places I lived during my childhood. I had the good fortune of growing up in the Bahamas, Germany, France and the Eastern Shore of Maryland. These experiences and places made deep impressions on my design sensibility, pushing me to bring culture, authenticity and originality to every space I design. My family’s Scandinavian background brought with it the influence of clean lines and the beauty of simplicity. During my early years in the Bahamas I learned to appreciate and love the wonder and colors of the ocean and nature. When I was in Germany, I gained an understanding of function versus form, and a year in the South of France ignited a passion for searching for those special pieces that tell your home’s story. Finally, my teenage years in Maryland instilled in me an appreciation for Southern graciousness.
I went on to receive my Liberal Arts Degree from Denison University, build a career in publishing at Random House, marry my college sweetheart (and favorite dentist!) and raise three children. But I still craved a creative outlet and felt pulled toward design. I decided it was time to finally fulfill my passion, and so I enrolled in and completed the Interior Design Program at the New York School of Interior Design (NYSID).
My new career began at K+K Interior Design, where I was the co-founder and co-owner for over five years before embarking on my own adventure, KPID. It’s here that I have been able to truly embrace my design philosophy of helping clients tell their stories through the spaces they love. I know quite personally the lasting influence travel and new experiences have on our lives. I strive to make every space embody the wonder, excitement, but also nostalgia of those experiences. I also know that creativity must be balanced by organization and communication for a seamless process; something myself and my team have finely honed. We are most proud of our repeat and referral business, as we believe that speaks volumes about our ability to connect with clients and provide them true value. Our goal is to make your home feel and look like you’ve always wanted it to.
