Born in Paris in 1964, Sophie Dumont currently resides in Langrune-sur-Mer, Normandy. After spending years in the Caribbean, Spain, and Morocco, she drew inspiration from a rich tapestry of images and colors.
Returning to France in 1991, Sophie, influenced by her grandmother Henriette Dumont's artistic world, embraced painting. Her artistic journey intensified around 2007, characterized by successive layers and nuanced shades of gray and white in her oil paintings.
Since then, she has extended her exploration of Normandy's landscapes, capturing the ethereal light and subtle vibrations of her surroundings. Her subliminal vision of distant horizons evokes a constantly evolving daily life, transcending recognizable reality to prioritize pure emotion.
Her interest in abstraction is evident in the deconstruction of the motif, favoring a semi-abstract representation. Since 2016, her preferred theme has been the library, treated in material with a delicate balance between abstraction and realism. The viewer's gaze is invited to freely explore these canvases where material and color intertwine, reflecting a coherent and sincere artistic approach.
