Siren Song is a collection that aims to draw one in. My goal is for each piece to be unique and alluring in some way. Every item is precious, whether it is a piece of horn jewelry or a hand carved tray.
Part of the inspiration for this collection comes from Dutch still life paintings of the 16th and 17th centuries. These paintings were also called “Vanitas”. They contained depictions of symbolic items, many referencing death or symbolic of different aspects of life, such as skulls, fruits, butterflies, flowers, and musical instruments.
I have also looked to what are commonly referred to as “Cabinets of Curiosities.” Phenomena that emerged in the 16th century. Collectors housed their most precious possessions, from rare shells and ivories, to rock crystal objects and fine portrait miniatures. Many collections were housed in specially designed rooms and cabinets to display these treasures to maximum effect.
This collection is a personal journey, inspired by my own whims and follies. I have put my heart and soul into designing these objects, and each one reflects a moment from my past or a hope for the future. I hope you cherish these pieces as much as I do.
