For over two decades, Marjorie Skouras Design has been creating world class interiors for several of the prominent families of the United States. Having coined the now widely used term Traditional with a Twist, this accurately describes the vast majority of her work. She is wont to drift into the realm of the surreal with those who share this interest, but is just as adept working in modern minimalism. Marjorie views her goal as interpreting the vision of her client in a visually exciting and pleasing, as well as utilitarian way, with all involved enjoying the ride.

In the early 2000s, Marjorie began designing bespoke pieces for her clients, which led to a deeper interest in both manufacturing techniques and exotic materials. A line was created, with an initial emphasis on lighting but gradually incorporating mirrors, furniture and home accessories. The Marjorie Skouras Design line has been represented by prestigious to the trade showrooms including Holly Hunt, Dennis Miller and Associates, Keith McCoy & Associates and DeSousa Hughes. Her clients are now all across the globe.

Marjorie's work has been featured in a multitude of design publications including The World of Interiors, Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, House and Garden, House Beautiful, Veranda, Traditional Home, AD France, AD Russia, AD Australia, Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, The London Times, The New York Times and many more. One of her favorite bedrooms graced the cover of the April 2007 cover of Metropolitan Home Magazine, in which she was named one of the 100 most influential designers in the world. Her work has also been featured in seven books.

After having restored a 19th century glorious Historic Colonial mansion from the Porfiriato period in the city of Merida, the Yucatan, Mexico, which was featured in Architectural Digest, she and her husband, their dog, cat, pig and baby burrito now live on a ranch in the northern Yucatan. Marjorie's collection of over 100 Mexican Caftans from the 1960s and 1970s is another aspect of her new life, and was exhibited at the Museum of Folk Art in Merida from 2022-2023.

We are proud to be able to offer a carefully curated mix of our lighting, furniture and accessories, as well as personal pieces from Marjorie's private collection, here on Chairish.
