We were founded in 1924 by Marc t. Nielsen, on the south side of Chicago-- 75th and Exchange. After the Great Depression, Mr. Nielsen used the money he made doing Shakespeare plays at the Chicago World's Fair in 1933 to purchase land in Indiana. He built a huge Tudor style barn in the 1940's, raised cattle and crops, and would commute to the office in Chicago. He also built a studio in Indiana, and the company began to move out there. By the late 1960's the move was complete. The company continues Mr. Nielsen's service-oriented bespoke design services, providing their clients with artistic interiors that stand the test of time. The Antique Shop and Gallery is located on the ground floor of the Great Barn boasting 8000 square feet of antiques and collectibles from around the world.

If you, like we, have a desire to create unique, welcoming, amazing spaces, our designers would love to help you accomplish that. Our Antique Shop presents a large selection of decorative, useful, interesting, and beautiful objects. We want our client’s homes to be functional, beautiful, and one-of-a-kind, to feed their human spirit. We want the colors to be right and the proportions harmonious. We love creating and selecting objects that are beautiful and useful. We love searching and unearthing rare finds for you. Marc t. Nielsen Interiors means creating, for you, the spaces of our combined dreams.
