We originally had a store and design shop years ago. We were forced to close it in the early 1990’s. Years later during the dot-com bubble I left my job because of a dispute over ethics. Out of desperation, I began selling our excess inventory online. Initially, I just wanted to pay my mortgage. I soon realized I might be able to do a lot better than that. Taking a chance, I liquidated my 401k and savings to purchase inventory and expand. With a great team of family and friends, we were one of the first to go global. piloting eBay's GSP and we outgrew our space almost immediately. We ran our operation out of a series of storage units at the time. I bought a building in 2007 to accommodate a growing enterprise. Then….the Great Recession hit: within a few months, what took 8 years to build up was reduced to rubble. I barely staved off bankruptcy on the building I purchased and had to let people go. It was a dire situation, but we made the best of it. Since then, we have rebuilt our little business, focused on personal service and value, offering fabrics, leather and trim on multiple platforms worldwide. We believe that small business is the way of the future and that it all starts with an idea and hard work…sometimes out of desperation. Fifteen years later (which makes us a dinosaur in the online world), we have many endearing relationships with our clients around the world. We are still small and we like it that way.
