Eerdmans is an art and design gallery and advisory located in Greenwich Village. Our exhibitions feature an ever-evolving display of works of art and design that reflect the vision of our founder, Emily Evans Eerdmans. Expect a touch of nostalgia but with a twist.
Emily Evans Eerdmans is a familiar name in the interior design world. The now legendary way she bid farewell to her friend and mentor Mario Buatta—the three-day, estimate-shattering Sotheby’s sale—is just one of many ways she has elevated the industry over the last twenty years. Emily is as beloved for her warmth and friendliness as she is respected for her intellect and aesthetic. She is the author of a long list of books on the history of design (she is currently at work on several new titles) as well as many articles in scholarly and national publications. After receiving her master’s degree in fine and decorative arts from Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London, she worked for some of the world's foremost antique dealers, attended the Attingham Summer School, and taught connoisseurship and design history at the New York School of Interior Design and the Fashion Institute of Technology. Her hallmarks are discretion, transparency, expertise, and—the very reason she and Mario clicked—a sense of humor and the belief that our daily lives are enriched by art and antiques.
