This “Gentleman’s Study” – designed to benefit the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club, featured a handsome palette of soft grey and blue textiles paired with rich cerused millwork to create a comfortable, serene background. Custom embroidered wool flannel ripple fold drapery, soft cashmere sheers, fine textured grass cloth reminiscent of horsehair, and plush beluga colored mohair are a luxurious juxtaposition to the leather bound wall to wall sisal. An eclectic mix of furnishings continues the carefully curated layering of the overall scheme of the room. These unexpected and understated pairings speak to the room’s subtle tension – balancing both the brutal and the refined.
