As I share my passion for painting here on Chairish, I hope you will enjoy browsing this special collection of engagingly colorful and uniquely composed original landscape and still life oil paintings. Each painting contains an investment of time and is infused with brushstrokes, color and inspiration that speak masterfully in a simple yet contemporary way.
An original painting, to me, offers a level of engagement that can't be experienced otherwise. A very primal connection has an opportunity to unfold that is heartfelt and often surpasses logical understanding. At the very core, this is the center of my inspiration. Making a connection with others through a painting contains something more powerful than words and has been a way to share my voice since early childhood.
Many of the landscape paintings feature areas local to where I live in New Jersey. Most of them are painted "en plein air" which in French and means "in the open air". This was a popular form of painting during the 19th century. Painting in this way connects me to nature, it's surprises and beauty all get translated a little differently to the canvas in that context.
Still life painting is also a large part of my practice and one of my favorites. I love working with flowers, fruits, and vegetables along with other vintage or handmade wares in creating an arrangement. They teach me more about inner exploration and how color can be hidden in the tiniest of locations, as if it's just waiting to be discovered. I love the magic in that idea!
