When I approach the canvas, my aim is fundamental and traditional. I am chiefly concerned with light, space, and color. I construct the painting through color. I primarily paint perceptually, constantly evaluating the color relationships within the composition. My process grounds me in the moment, intensely looking at the subject and capturing the varying hues. Through my process, I am asking myself when does abstract become representational and vice versa? For me, color is my tool, my purpose, my conceptual idea.
