Description: Up for sale is one of our finest Chinese jade collections, an exquisitely carved gigantic Chinese spinach nephrite jade (Bi … more Up for sale is one of our finest Chinese jade collections, an exquisitely carved gigantic Chinese spinach nephrite jade (Bi Yu) incense burner after the archaic loyal style of early bronze Fang Ding vessel, standing on four short sturdy feet shaped in lion-paw form, with two tall flared handles attached with four rings, the cover decorated with openwork patterns and extending to an extremely fine final in the form of Guanyin (Kwan Yin, Goddess of Mercy) riding on the Buddhist lion; the exterior of the burner overall decorated with Taotie masks and other archaic motifs; the base and the interior of the cover bearing apocryphal Qian Long seal marks; mid 20th century, hardwood stand with silver-wire inlays, in overall good condition consistent to its age, some missing and loose wire inlays on the wooden base, private New York collection, originally deaccessioned from St. Petersburg Museum of Art in Florida
