This lovely … Read more This is for a wonderful Antique Late 19th Century French Louis XV Rocco styled Ormalu Bronze hinged Box. This lovely antique box is cast bronze with a domed lid and ornate handles. The lid is hinged and has no issues as works perfectly. There is a spot for a key, which there is not one. On top there are Cherubs holding a floral bronze garland along with other bronze floral decorations on the sides. The decorations include Scrolls, Foliage, shells and a beaded boarder adding to the Rocco design.
There are also multiple white with Celeste blue porcelain medallions that are hand painted floral designs with accents of gold while framed on the top and sides of the lid. There are small bronze cherubs / putti on the top of the box holding up a bronze ribbon. The inside is lined with an olive green velour fabric which is in wonderful condition and trimmed with a green accent trim.
This antique bronze casted box measures: 7 inches tall x 9 inches wide x 6 inches deep. The piece has some patina and the porcelain shows wear on the hand painted gold trim. The box is sturdy and in very good condition to use as a trinket box, coin holder to jewelry holder or as antique display item. It is a lovely piece of history.
