This Sonia Delaunay rare vintage 1980 Pace Editions lithograph print custom framed large Modernist exhibition poster " Composition " 1938, is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The Modernist exhibition poster print is published by The Albright-Knox Art Gallery Buffalo New York, printed in The United States in 1980 in an unnumbered limited edition by Pace Editions Inc. on the occasion of the exhibition. It features an artwork image originally created by Delaunay in 1938 titled " Composition ", copyright 1980 Sonia Delaunay - Jacques Damase.
This is a rare opportunity for true Delaunay and Modernism fans and collectors both as this coveted image lithograph print exhibition poster is long out of print and very scarce to find.
Sonia Delaunay ( 1885 - 1979 ) born Sarah Llintchna Stern, was a Jewish Ukrainian born French artist, who spent most of her working life in Paris. She was formally trained in Russia and Germany before moving to France and expanding her practice to include textile, fashion, and set design. She co-founded The Orphism Art Movement, known for its use of strong colors and geometric shapes, with her artist husband Robert Delaunay and others.
She was the first living female artist to have a retrospective exhibition at The Louvre Museum in Paris in 1964, and in 1975 was named an officer of The French Legion of Honor. Delaunay's work in Modern design included concepts of Geometric Abstraction, and the integration of furniture, fabrics, wall coverings, and clothing into her oeuvre of art practices.
The rare out of print framed large format Modernist exhibition poster measures 24 1/4" W X 37 5/8" H X 1" D. It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern satin finish charcoal gray metal frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.
It is in excellent " like new " condition. The poster print is in excellent " like new " clean vintage condition consistent with age, light signs of handling, and very light minor wear in the lower bottom margin text area.
