Created in Sweden during the early years of the 20th century, each of this pair of Gustavian style armchairs features a rectangular back connected to two open arms with scrolling knuckles. The chairs are ready for a reupholstery of your choice. The aprons are carved with delicate waterleaf motifs flanked with rosettes on the knees. The chairs are raised on four elegant carved legs with fluted accents. They are painted in a soft color typical of the Swedish taste for light palettes aiming at brightening the rooms during the long and dark Scandinavian winters.
The Gustavian style takes its roots in the Louis XVI era. Swedish King Gustav III resided in 1771 in Paris, at the beginning stages of the Louis XVI style.
