The padding is ample for comfort for both the seat and the back and they are upholstered in matte faux leather. They are conference meeting room chairs that stack up to 8 tall but since there are 10 in this group, 2 stacks of 5 won't take up space when stored, if not in use. This set was first purchased in 1999 and made by Lorell, Atlanta, Georgia, USA. They have the look and feel of nearly identical chairs from Steelcase which likely served as inspiration for the design of this set of chairs. less
