These Chinese black porcelain hand painted plates were made in China and they are marked as no for food use … Read more These Chinese black porcelain hand painted plates were made in China and they are marked as no for food use which helps date these to the 1970's when food poisoning was becoming more recognized. These plates were more than likely made in the Guandong province of China and they are known as Macau Ware after the famous Macau City port in China that exported many fine art and ceramics out of China since the 16th century. These plates were hand painted with overglaze enamel paints to create this lovely tropical floral bouquet with chrysanthemum flowers, ferns, and berry vines painted in blue, pink, and purple colors that pop off of the dark black background. This Chinese black porcelain plates measure 10 1/4" wide by 1 1/4" tall and they are in "Excellent Condition" with no chips, no cracks, no repairs, no crazing to the glaze, and slight wear to the set with one small knick to the edge of one plate only.
