A beautiful Antique Tolewear Clock. Made from Tin with japanned lacquer, this particular clock is delicately painted with flowers in muted shades of gold. The white enamel dial shows roman numerals and moon hands, with French rear lock plate movement. The French movement will strike hours and half hours, with a brass weighted pendulum and brass key. This clock movement is of high quality and was handmade. C1850
Toleware, or simply tole, refers to items and objects made of tin that have been japanned or lacquered, and adorned with a picture or design. Toleware clocks would have been popular as wedding gifts.
This clock will display beautifully and will take pride of place in any room, in full original working order.
