A 1970s Boho Chic style solid oak unpainted oak raw wood sectional vertical stacked multi-function storage unit. Designed with smooth round edged corners throughout. The top section as shown in the photos has a flap down door that becomes a ledge that is designed to serve as a cocktail dry bar. However if placed in the middle it can easily serve as a writing desk. The three box units are moveable as they are held in place by metal shelf brackets The front pf the panels that enclose the 3 sections are created in a butcher block style of wood inlay that runs in a perpendicular direction and creates a beautiful pattern.
Two of the sections have swingout, side by side doors in addition to the pull down shelf that extends out into a horizontal position. The unit has a clear wood sealer finish that is practically nude which allows for the subtle wood grain to be showcased.. It can stay in its beige wood state forever or perhaps a colored stain could be engaged to give it a fresh ceruse wood finish that could provide it with a fresh updated vibe. It has a definite "Earth Movement" vibe that is quintessential to the shifting change from "Shagadelic tie-dye" days of the late 60's and into the early times of the groovy "Give peace a chance" era 70's.
There is no makers mark discoverable and although there are similar styled units found in the marketplace, After an educated adn exhaustive search we couldn't find a twin or any piece that came close to matching this one. This is possibly a one of a kind piece. Undoubtedly, the "Transitional" style of the chunky smooth edged pieces that came to market during the early to mid 1970's by furniture Houses like Lane or Thayer Coggin possibly as designed by Milos Baughman seem to to have influenced the style of this unit. less
