An exquisite antique Taisho Satsuma era ceramic box with lid, this small Japanese ceramic piece has a bowl-like shape and a meticulously hand-painted sen'nohana (1000 flowers, millefiori, thousand flower) motif with white daises and asters. The detail is amazing - particularly the gold gilt enamel design around the rim of the bowl.
In Japanese hanakotaba - the language of flowers - white daisies symbolize hidden love and faith and asters, a symbol of remembrance state "I won't forget you."
The vintage Japanese ceramic box would make a very special gift or a box for a very special gift.
The antique hand-painted Japanese ceramic box is in good vintage condition showing wear consistent with its age and use. There is glue residue on the bottom of piece where an old label was removed long ago.
