The brilliance of this design by Tom Caldwell doesn’t stop there: it continues in the pare-down quality of the stems from which the shades extend, which grow thinner as they move toward the petals; the circular details on these, which create an elemental knottiness like that of bamboo; and the elegant shape of the small cup from which they branch out.
