This Andy Warhol rare vintage 1986 first edition collector's lithograph custom framed Pop Art exhibition poster " Queen Elizabeth II " 1985, is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The Pop Art poster print is printed in Denmark in 1986 in an unnumbered limited edition on the occasion of the Art Expo Denmark. It features an iconic portrait artwork image originally created by Warhol in 1985 titled " Queen Elizabeth II ", copyright Andy Warhol / Art Expo Denmark.
This is a rare opportunity for true Warhol and Queen Elizabeth fans and collectors both as this coveted image lithograph print Pop Art poster is long out of print and very scarce to find.
Andy Warhol ( 1928 - 1987 ) is one of the singularly most well known Contemporary artists of all time. His imagery is recognized worldwide. His infamous life, art works, and creative endeavors are like no other artist. He is credited as the very first artist to use common everyday objects and view them in a completely different way while paying homage to their role in our society. Glorifying the common as the beautiful. His technique utilizing a silkscreen method combined with hand finishing in a signature palette of vibrant color hues make the work stand on its own and love by millions.
The Queen Elizabeth portrait image is from Warhol's " Reigning Queens " 1985 portfolio. The subject of the series are the four female monarchs at the time the original artworks were created : Queen Elizabeth II of England, Queen Beatrix of The Netherlands, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, and Queen Ntombi Twalal of Swaziland. Queen Elizabeth's portrait was based on a photograph taken in 1977 for her Silver Jubilee.
The Reigning Queens portfolio brings together many of Warhol's central themes of celebrity, portraiture, consumerism, decoration and the extremes of social hierarchy to create an iconic Pop Art portrait artwork.
The rare out of print 1st edition framed lithograph print exhibition poster measures 24 1/2" W X 34 1/4" H X 1" D. It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern deep purple subtle metallic finish metal frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.
