Japan’s first alarm clock. German-made alarm clocks were dominant throughout the world in those days, but their iron cases were prone to rust. Seiko’s alarm clocks were produced with a rust-resistant case made of nickel-plated brass. Consumers in the Japanese and Chinese markets preferred Seiko’s entry over German makes. Japan-made alarm clocks would soon become popular worldwide.
