The lamps are in excellent vintage condition for both age and use. There are no apparent chips, cracks or crazing to the porcelain and or damaged gold paint decoration. There is slight abrasion to one of the cherub faces in closeup view (see photo). No repairs have been made to the porcelain or painted gold decoration. The gilt wood bases are in very good condition and also have not been repaired. About ten years ago the felt covering the undersides of the wood bases were replaced. At the same time, the electrical wiring was refurbished.. Electrical seems to be in good working order currently, however as with all vintage lighting, it is recommended that they be professionally inspected prior to use. The included shades which were custom made a few years ago as replacements for the originals, appear to be in excellent condition.

more
This unique Mid-Century Hollywood Regency pair of white porcelain table lamps dating to the early 1960's incorporate classic elements pulled from Italian Neoclassical and French Baroque, Rococo and Beaux Arts periods and styles. Prominent 3-D cherub figures encircle the porcelain center columns and rest on porcelain pedestals, all embellished with decorative 3-D stylistic elements including garlands, rosettes, medallions and trailing vines artistically and extensively hand-painted with gold details.
Bodies of the lamps are mounted on round gilt-wood bases 2 inches in height and the shades are included.
Although lamp bases are believed to be of French or Italian origin, the place of origin remains unconfirmed. No marks are evident.
The included 'newish' shades in classic Empire style are off-white linen with gold soutache bands around top and bottom and beautifully complement the striking lamp bases. They were custom made in Los Angeles a few years ago as replacements for the worn original shades.
