The 19th Century Austro-Hungarian Cobalt Cut to Clear Silver Rimmed Console Bowl is a stunning piece of Bohemian cut glass. The bowl is designed with a central starburst encircled by a floral and leaf motif that surrounds the piece. The intricate cut to clear design is highlighted by a deep cobalt blue overlay. The fitted silver rim has two hallmarks, a city assay hallmark and the Diana hallmark used in 1872.
This console bowl is a well-executed example of 19th-century Bohemian decorative arts and is in wonderful condition. Although there is some wear that is commensurate with age and use, it is limited to typical surface scratching on the bottom. The bowl measures 11 5/8" in diameter and is 1 3/4" tall.
Not only is this bowl a beautiful piece of decorative arts, but it is also functional.
