The Atomium paperweight is a unique souvenir from the 1958 World Expo/Fair held in Brussels, Belgium. The Atomium is a landmark building in Brussels that was originally constructed for the 1958 World's Fair. It is situated on the Heysel/Heizel Plateau in Laeken, which was the site of the exposition. The Atomium was designed by Andre Waterkeyn and Andre and Jean Polak, and it stands 335 feet tall.
The Atomium's design features nine stainless steel spheres, each 59 feet in diameter, connected in the shape of a unit cell. The design represents an iron crystal magnified 165 billion times. The top sphere houses a restaurant with a breathtaking panoramic view of Brussels.
The Atomium paperweight stands at 4-3/4 inches tall and 4 inches wide. It sits on a 2-3/8 inch square black marble vase. Despite being a vintage item, the paperweight is in good used condition with only minor wear and tear, and no notable damage or issues.
The Atomium paperweight is a fascinating and unique keepsake that represents a significant event in the history of Brussels and the world. less
