With tall green trees … more A wonderful, colorful painting captures a quiet dusk evening at the Santa Rosa, California train station.
With tall green trees of palms and pines behind the south bound train building on the platform. It really looks like a place I wouldn’t mind getting off a train in!
This watercolor painting of Santa Rosa Station has a subtle, Avant-Garde magic that feels very compelling. The north and south bound train tracks run horizontally across the painting on natural red gravel. The train station building stretches from left to right and is painted by the artist in great detail. The green tiles of the sloping roof contrast with the stone structure of the walls and pillars. The artist has painstakingly painted the gravel, roof tiles and stone in great detail.
the inviting lights inside of the train station as seen through the glass windows contrast with the dusk evening shown outside. A few parked cars populate the left side of the painting. A yellow taxi is seen leaving the station at the right.
It is easy to imagine that we’re seeing the viewpoint from the north bound side of the station.
Most of the world’s most famous railway stations are in big cities, but these aren’t the only places with train stations. Smaller towns, particularly out in the country, actually gained the most from the invention of train travel. Being on the train line put them on the map and allowed their inhabitants to communicate with the wider world far more easily than before.
Eiko’s Santa Rosa Station on the Railroad shows a small railway station in Santa Rosa, CAlifornia. Cars and taxis (Uber today?) drop off and pick up passengers. Although this station is in CAlifornia, the scene isn’t all that different from what you’ll see at many local train stations today. less
