19th Century French Louis XV Walnut Display Armoire ~ Bookcase is a majestic example of fine craftsmanship, executed in what experts consider the finest indigenous wood ever available from the continent of Europe! The boldly arched crown is intricately molded and fitted at the center with a work of the sculptor's art that revels in the Rococo flair, with stylized shell, floral and foliates featured, cascading down the shoulders towards the complex mitered corners. The bonnet is beautifully carved as well, from the recessed, mitered corners on the ends to the recessed panels, featuring complementary motifs that also extend below the bonnet on the same cornerposts that frame the piece. Upturned stylized shells reach up from the lower mounts of the cornerposts creating a visually stunning framework for the full length glazed door, boasting its original beveled glass. Adjustable shelves and a floor create four display surfaces that can adapt to your keepsakes and heirlooms displayed within. Below the cabinet is a full width drawer with the complementary carved detail, fitted with cast brass pulls. Below the drawers is yet another tier of sublime sculpture carved onto the undulating apron, with scrolled and carved legs providing support.
