Oil on canvas painting signed by Paul Lambert (1910-1970). Paul Lambert is a French painter known for his depiction of Parisian scenes. This oil on canvas painting is typical of his Paris cityscapes done with sharp black lines and muted colors and depicts the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris view from the Ile Saint Louis. He regularly illustrated images of life in Paris. Signed on the bottom left corner: "P Lambert".
Originally framed in a carved wood frame with gesso application and aged off-white and gilded matte.

Paul Lambert was born in 1910. He is a French painter known for his depiction of Parisian scenes, such as views of the Left Bank of the Seine and other famous city views of Paris. He has regularly illustrated life in Paris, in particular that of the artistic community of Montmartre, where he probably lived. His post-impressionist style of the Parisian streets painter is characterized by the use of a palette of cool colors combined with very precise dark lines to capture the vitality of the city. His work is a delicious blend of Maurice Utrillo and Bernard Buffet. less
