A matched pair of Chinese porcelain garden butterflies cong vases, with white glazed exteriors, interiors and inset bases. The sides of the vases are decorated with finely drawn and detailed, polychrome, butterflies among fruits and vegetables on flowering branches, continuing on the neck and foot, with flower medallions on the corners, all in low relief. Red and white, six character, Jiaqing, reign marks in Zhuanshu script are glazed to the inset bases. A finely carved, traditional, Chinese, hongmu stand is included for each vase. Circa Republic of China period, no later than mid century.
