Charles (Charlie) Parriott glass vase that is smooth, orange blown glass on the top half and textured glass on the bottom half, clear at the top with progressively more bits of orange and brown specks towards the bottom. There is a label on the bottom that reads "Charles Parriott centerpiece #16". Etched into the glass at the bottom is "parricalmo, Pratt, '84, 16/20.

Charles Parriott
BORN NORWALK, CONNECTICUT, 1952
Charles Parriott graduated from California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, CA with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1976. He went on to study at Pilchuck Glass School between 1974-79 and at the University of Applied Arts in Prague in 1985-86. Parriott co-founded Glass Eye Studio in 1978 and taught at Pilchuck Glass School from 1986-89, in 1992, and in 2001. He worked as a designer and colorist in the Dale Chihuly studio from 1988-2001 and was the founding director of the hot shop at the Museum of Glass in Tacoma from 2001-03. His work is in the collections of institutions such as SAFECO Corporation in Seattle, Tacoma Art Museum, and the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague. Parriott has received a National Endowment for the Arts and Crafts Fellowship, a Hauberg Fellowship from Pilchuck Glass School, and a Guinness Book of Records Award for the world’s largest bottle of wine. He is a Fulbright Scholar and recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship. (He changed his name from Carlo to Charlie Parriott in 1971). less
