Painting of a Spanish city by artist Walter Shirlaw (1838-1909). Signed lower right; not inscribed with a city, but all the works in this group are from Madrid, Seville or Granada.
Shirlaw was born in Scotland and immigrated with his parents to America soon after. He was one of the first instructors at the Art Students League of New York, a member of the National Academy of Design, and a founder of the Society of American Artists. Shirlaw moved to Spain in 1904 and died there in 1909. less
