This " Pop Art : Movements in Modern Art " rare vintage 1970 first edition Mid Century Modern lithograph print hardcover art book is an incredibly special and unique book to add to your library collection.
The hardcover art book with dust jacket is published by The Hamlyn Publishing Group Limited, London New York Sydney Toronto Hamlyn House England. Printed in Hong Kong in 1970 by Toppan Printing Company. It features a survey collection of the artworks of The Pop Art Movement, with accompanied compelling text authored by Michael Compton, edited by Trewin Copplestone.
Michael Compton, assistant curator of the Modern collection at The Tate Gallery London, reveals the antecedents of Pop, the traditions of the movement, and describes it's separate origins in England, North America, and Europe. He surveys the oeuvre, off-shoots and derivations of Pop and analyses the effect of Pop Art on our " landscape ". His lucid text is complemented by the 200 illustrations, 50 in color. This special book is designed to be a useful reference work as well as a comprehensive and readable account of this provocative and exciting subject.
This volume offers a new perspective on the movement with a documented critical history that explores the evolution of Pop Art in Great Britain, The United States, and Europe.
