The wear is normal and appropriate to an item of this age. With restoration there is always a question of how far to take the work. We believe in making the item beautiful and usable while not hiding all the well earned wear. There remains some normal and expected shrinkage in the wood where pieces were originally joined, and small marks and scratches in the wood and glass. See the photos for further details and feel free to email me with any questions prior to purchase. There are reflections in the photographs. This is a truly beautiful quarter sawn oak (also known as tiger oak) china cabinet / hutch / bookcase with superior quality and workmanship. The outstanding 3-dimensional carved decorations of claw feet, shell designs, fruit flourishes, and ornate curli-cues make it a unique piece of furniture. Although probably meant as an ornate Chippendale style, it has a touch of Renaissance revival or Spanish revival design elements.
The cabinet features angled corners and glass sides that allow more natural light inside, and an interior light was later added to enhance the display. The top simply sits on the base and can be transported in two parts.
This is an original antique piece that has been restored and not a later reproduction. It was made probably in the 1920s. Its height is approximately 68 1/2 inches, depth is about 18 1/8 inches, and the width is about 57 1/8 inches.
This is an extremely versatile piece of furniture that can be used as a china cabinet, hutch, or bookcase. It will add character and elegance to any room.
This stunning piece is ready to take its place as a statement piece in your home. Don't miss the chance to own this unique antique piece that will make a great addition to your collection. less
