Limited Edition 1996 ART DECO SERIES SECRET CARRIAGE CLOCK by S.T. Dupont Paris
#214/500
DIMENSIONS: 3" X 2 3/4"
At the end of the 1910's, decorators sought to break away from the sinuous curves of Art nouveau. They found many new sources of inspiration; both traditional and contemporary, European and exotic. Thus differing styles such as African art and Neo-classicism provided the powerful momentum for a new decorative movement that saw the arabesques of Art Nouveau make way for pure, stylized lines.
Art Deco is an artistic and design style that began in Paris in the 1920s and flourished internationally throughout the 1930s and into the World War II era. The style influenced all areas of design, including architecture and interior design, fashion and jewelry, as well as the visual arts such as painting, graphic art, and film. It was a distinct departure from the flowing asymmetrical organic curves of its predecessor, Art Nouveau, and represented elegance, glamour, functionality, and modernity.
With "Art Deco", S.T. Dupont offers a limited series inspired by the designs presented at the Decorative Arts exhibition held in Paris in April 1925. This unique collection was made up of five pieces with resolutely modern forms, cased in metal and decorated with red and black Chinese lacquer.
Every creation is born through the wish to surpass the previous one, a search for beauty, uniqueness, and dreams, the desire to share your passion and produce an object with timeless appeal.
The story of S.T. Dupont is rooted in two equally strong wishes: to create and to share something exceptional. Like a one-off haute couture garment designed for a particular woman, like a limited edition artwork, the rarity of an S.T. Dupont product makes it exclusive
S.T. Dupont designs exceptional products in order to share the intense pleasure of a long-awaited and rare creation with a small number of keen collectors. These pieces often pay homage to a specific event, or an individual or artistic movement. They reflect the expertise and a love of perfection.
